Child Abuse Prevention Month
Join us in raising awareness and building community during
April's Child Abuse Prevention Month!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to help people across the country understand that safe, stable, and nurturing relationships and environments are necessary to ensure that children thrive.
Pinwheels of Possibility celebrates the limitless potential of children and families when communities come together to support them.
The spinning pinwheel shows us what that support can look like: with families at the center, each turn represents the systems, programs, policies, and everyday acts of care that strengthen them and help them thrive.
At a moment when families are facing rising costs, heightened stress, and widening gaps in support, we are stepping forward with a clear message:
When we invest in families early and often, we create the conditions where children can grow up safe, supported, and full of possibility.

Why Prevention Matters
- Nearly 1 in 7 children in the U.S. experiences abuse or neglect each year.
- Research shows that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs), safe, stable, and nurturing relationships, protect children and promote lifelong well-being.
- Families supported early are better equipped to provide safe and stable environments where children can reach their full potential.
Families are doing everything they can—but rising costs, increased stress, and gaps in support systems are making it harder to stay steady. Prevention is about reducing those pressures before they turn into crises.
Support changes outcomes.
When families have access to stable housing, affordable child care, mental and physical health care, and trusted community connections, children are more likely to grow up safe and thriving.
Positive experiences build resilience.
Research shows that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs)—like supportive relationships and safe, nurturing environments—help buffer adversity and strengthen lifelong well-being.
Prevention is already happening.
Across Colorado, communities are strengthening families every day—through parent support programs, early childhood initiatives, community partnerships, and systems change efforts. When we connect and scale these efforts, we build a stronger, more coordinated prevention infrastructure.
