Safe Exchange and Parenting Time (SEPT) Program

The Safe Exchange Parenting Time (SEPT) program offered by CASA of the Continental Divide provides a neutral and secure environment for children during custody exchanges and parenting time visitations. The primary goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of children while maintaining their relationships with both parents.

Services Provided
          1. Supervised Exchanges
Supervised exchanges facilitate the safe transfer of children between parents or guardians without direct contact between the adults. This service is designed to reduce conflict and ensure the child’s comfort and security.
  • Location: Exchanges occur at a neutral, secure location.
  • Process: A trained volunteer or staff member supervises the exchange, ensuring it is conducted smoothly and safely.
  • Duration: Exchanges typically last 10-15 minutes, enough time to facilitate a safe handover.
          2. Supervised Parenting Time
Supervised parenting time allows a non-custodial parent to spend time with their child in a monitored setting. This service ensures the child’s safety while fostering a healthy relationship with both parents.
  • Location: Visits take place at a designated, child-friendly facility.
  • Supervision: A trained volunteer or staff member supervises the visit, observing interactions, documenting, and providing support as needed.
  • Duration: Visits can range from 1 to 2 hours, depending on court orders or agreements between parents.
