I would encourage others to become CASA’s because it is so fulfilling to make a real difference in a child’s life. It is helpful and so worthwhile to get to know the child, get to know what their specific needs are what their desires are and to be a part of their life so they aren’t forgotten. Children who have a CASA have a strong advocate in their life to help secure a permanent home for them so they can live a safer, more enriching and loving life. With all the volunteer work that I have done over the years, being a CASA is the most interesting, challenging and rewarding volunteer job I’ve ever had.

The post Lois Bruce first appeared on CASA of the Continental Divide.

I believe this work is important and I encourage more people to become involved because it is for neglected and/or abused children who need a responsible adult’s time, compassion, and voice in a tough court system. Kids get lost and misguided so they need someone to learn what it’s been like in that household situation, and to stand up for them. And if you don’t quite have the time yet to become a fully trained advocate, then the “Friends of CASA” volunteer program is perfect for those who can give whatever spare time they have in helping fund-raise and fun-raise, as well as just bringing more awareness to the people of Summit, Lake, Clear Creek and Eagle Counties.

The post Amanda Acker first appeared on CASA of the Continental Divide.

It can be a heart-wrenching experience, but it is always worth it. CASA volunteers can be the only constant in a child’s life while they are going through many changes, some scary and some good. They need that consistency desperately.
